having the decision to actually do this was crazy now we're sat at the UK Games Expo talking it's just absolutely mad um

but yeah we're just a gaming group in the southwest we're based in in and around Taton in Somerset we represent uh

all the usual stereotypes apply um and yeah we've been playing tabletop games

for probably nearly 10 years pro well a lot of us are different varying years but as a group in about kind of yeah

nearly 10 years so and we thought why the hell not we talk about games all the time let's record it and that's what we've been doing so yeah we what makes

our show a little bit different for those that don't know is we have an army of people as you can tell not everybody

this time was to try as many new things new games as I could cool um while

so Slay the Spire it's a cooperative deck building adventure you basically kind of craft a unique deck and

encounter bizarre creatures based on the computer game i don't know if any of you have played that also you discover

relics of immense power and finally become strong enough to slay the spire so that is going to be your pink side or

great thank you and we we just sat down and went through lots of detail around these new upcoming releases and some

releases here right but what what have we got coming up what's really exciting yes so uh most of these are prototypes

uh these two games are coming out at Essenfield i can show you like this is work in progress still uh but the main

idea of the first expansion for STI is that we introduce the space agencies uh which is uh a new like a a way uh to

introduce asymmetry in the game so players will be able to have variable powers uh in the game like with

different starting resources different different income different abilities and so on um and with the the new setup

cards the new quick setup cards you uh can also play the game in four rounds now uh which means that you dive right

into the action of the game oh yeah and of course we'll have like new alien species you can see uh there's one of

them there's going to be three new alien species and 11 new space agencies um

there's going to be loads of new cards uh new small mechanics uh the you can

use the the quick set of cards to boost the two-player games and yeah this is uh

Space uh Agency i'm excited for this one i'm not going to lie i'm very excited too i'll get to see some new stuff it's

really cool yeah brilliant and this is our new title for uh Essen release this

is again a prototype it's called Wispwood you're trying to build a forest collecting uh different colors of

magical wisps uh which when built into your grid uh they can give you points

according to uh different placement uh scoring rules um so it's it's very

simple it's one of the the lighter games of CG uh so you want to place the wisps

on your grid to collect the points uh you pick one of them when it's your turn

and place them like in this shape or this shape using the tree tiles to build the polyominos and you also have uh

these cats uh that help you uh sort of when you use them you can mix and match

sort of uh what you can take from the offer and then the cat goes to hide and you can use it again later and uh the

basic thing about this is that it's played in three rounds the first round you build a 4x4 grid the second round

you build a 5x5 and the six a 6x6 so it's it's expanding but you're keeping

the same wisps in each round you you discard only the trees so you have to

think differently every round about how you build uh your grid amazing nice and

uh this is um a very exciting project of ours because code names turned 10 years

uh this year it's our 10th anniversary so we decided to give it a fresh look uh

a more contemporary look and uh basically we've changed a lot of things except for the gameplay the gameplay is

the same is what you have known and loved but we wanted to give like um uh

unique agent illustrations uh for for for the agent tiles including these

pigeons that are completely new and uh also the key cards have different like

more vibrant color so you can see them in in the dark and also different backs

uh the rule book is written differently like more uh new uh player friendly we

have um an insert which is completely new as well uh there's only one thing

removed and that's the sand timer but we also have an app called companion which

you can use to to time your games if you want to because we know that people don't really use the timer in the game

and uh one other thing is that some of the words have been removed because we have a lot of data from our online games

uh so basically we know which words are harder to connect and so on so we have removed these words and put in new words

according to the data that we have in 10 years of playing code names yeah that's really cool so yeah this is a new era of

code names and all the other games are coming out as well pictures duets and so on later on in the year nice

and and last we have uh the new expansion for Galaxy Trucker it's called Do What and uh it's a Gen Con release uh

it's an expansion for uh the base game of Galaxy Jugger and basically it it

gives you more crazy uh missions and ways to to to build your ship it's even

more chaotic and uh do what is basically the reaction you you're going to have when you read what you're supposed to do

uh in in the game there's two modules like the the missions which give you new

rules uh new components uh like explosive cargo and so on super cards

that are particularly harmful uh and also there's another module called uh

the VIP mode uh which you get um very quirky demands of very important

passengers that you have to place on your ship uh so all of that makes it

more unpredictable because so far you know how to build your ship and everything but with this it it mixes up

things a lot but will you keep your ship alive at the end probably not probably not this galaxy quicker so exactly

away Curly yeah so Great Western Trail an absolute classic um one of my favorite games the premise of it is

you're going along the old Great Western Trail which is basically kind of a cattle wrangling cowboy style game um

and the idea of the game is you're going to be moving around the track a certain number of spaces and over the course of it you're going to create your own sort

of worker spaces you can go on um and collect more cows to then sell at market and things like that they've done a load

of different expansions as well new Zealand where you got sheep and you've got a shearing element to that and yeah

it's just one of the absolute classics and one of our favorites in the group as well we play it very regularly it's got the little hats on the meeples the

yeah yeah so far not super busy today hope it will pick up we are getting ready for tomorrow oh I'm sure

tomorrow's the day usually it's going to get mad i'm here to talk about the new Jakarion expansion which to me came out

of absolutely nowhere and and it's just such an exciting uh campaign that you you've ran recently what 10 years kind

of the original one right yeah it's a 10 year anniversary and then we knew all along that Trarion has like a very

strong uh fandom right um it's it's been a bit of a slow burner game when it came

out it didn't came out with such a huge bang but this is our second uh This has

been our second uh deluxe edition so far and both have been very popular and it's just great to see many many people

discovering the game again after all these years and it basically great to see that he's still relevant yeah we're

massive fans of Tracer in our gaming group uh you can't see behind the camera is Curly and and Curley's a big guy he's

probably our best player at Traparion and he always kicks our our asses um so what's the expansion all about so what

do what can we expect from our copies that we've backed oh yeah so the big thing about the the deluxe edition and

the 10 year anniversary is a new mini expansion called the arcane art so the

big thing about it is that it fits into this small little uh tray that actually fits into everyone's collector

traditions if they have that that that is a genius decision i love the fact that you can still get this in the big

box that most people will have yeah no I I this was the number one thing we we we

knew we needed to do we we just couldn't invalidate the collector's editions that people have so we we realized that we

still have a little space where the bags are and the bags could go on the top so we just filled that space with some good

stuff nice um so what's going on here is we have basically three new stuff in this uh

three new things in this expansion we have uh some arcane workers we have a bunch of arcane or rather enchantments

that are special components and we also have a bunch of new prophecies and some

new uh shards over there nice uh which are basically

uh your trickarian shards but enhanced in power nice okay super trickarian shard exactly mhm so what happens is

that a mysterious figure called the arcanic arcanis shows up in in town he has this little wagon and he acts as

like a mobile location offering uh PE players something beyond illusion almost

like real magic to to boost their stuff um this this little uh marker it moves

around every round uh so it's like downtown and one of the locations so if

you visit those locations you can also spend some action points to to do some shopping at the arcane wagon as well

okay and he offers you uh first he offers you his arcane workers they are

they go on the apprentice slots and they have various powers for example the golem i I like that guy the most i think

he's u he has three action points just like a magician so So he does really some heavy lifting but he can only go

first or last in in your turn order and both can be a bit of a bit of a problem

if if if you don't don't line his actions up quite well and then similarly

the others have some some cool special abilities as well just like for example the spectre who can uh go on a location

even if it's full because it doesn't occupy a space at all or the shape shifter that can take the place of uh

basically it can act as any of these specialists so those are the arcane workers they

they are also some of them actually uh need to be paid shards instead of coins

but uh it's usually worth it for the power that you get and then we have the enchantments the enchantments basically

when you get them for some money and some action points they can uh replace

your uh two money worth of your components when you when you assemble your tricks but when you do that you

they go on the tricks uh so basically they ancient them permanently asking them a buff kind of thing yeah exactly

they buff them and the way they buff them is that we have these two dice one of them shows you which enchantment is

active uh in any given turn i see and the other one shows what it does uh when

Oh nice so when you have a trick in the theater that has this enchantment for

example in this case when you perform it it also gives you one um special assignment card on top of what it what

it normally does brilliant okay these uh dice are rolled randomly but just like every other die in the game you can

manipulate them here with these actions you can just set them and then lock them in for the rest of the turn perfect it's

it's it's cool because it's useful in two ways it can replace your components and it can give you bonuses

really help you that flexibility sometimes in the game where you can you can get yourself into a bit of a pickle

which will carry on i' I've done it many times where you're going "Oh no." Um so it's nice to find different avenues to

kind of get yourself out of that so yeah exactly the best thing about it is that it loosens up the component requirements

and and uh basically unlocks more more roots in which you can go through your tricks so even if someone buys your

trick that you were looking for which is usually an infuriating moment in trickerary this helps a lot with that

yeah and that's quite good because I can imagine the the original component matrix that you had to design is like

you can't really mess with that because if you did then the whole tricks and everything else is built around that

matrix right yeah exactly it's been an age-old problem that the trick trick matrix needs to stay the same i mean we

a while ago we had the signature tricks with the dawn of dawn of technology expansion that was also like a quite

hard thing to to get yeah I bet yeah excellent so for people are like interested in this uh obviously the

campaign's been and gone can they get their hands on it as late pledges yeah absolutely we are still running late

pledges for a while uh and it's it's also going to be in essence so if there you're in essence and you can pick it up

so coming up we have got Frick's Games 2016 game one of my absolute favorites

here Terraforming Mars not a surprise oh my god it's been played to death it has been played to death and it did win the

last two years because because it deserves it quite frankly in my opinion it's amazing i'm not disputing that it's

great i'm sure you've all heard of it however you basically control a corporation um aiming to make Mars habitable increasing the oxygen uh

increasing your temperature and laying down oceans it's a engine building resource management tag collecting space

adventure which is one of my favorite games ever so that will be your pink side people pink side for that one blue

we're going to have Arcs yeah leader games 2024 arcs go on okay so Arcs is a

fun competitive brilliant sharp tactical space battling game uh you gain resources by production or by stealing

off other people which is the main part of it which is the fun part you love the back stuff he wants i know yeah but you put one there i get him arcs has an

interesting unique It has a very good unique card trick system which plays your action so you got to follow the leader to then and you got to follow the

suit and the number which is a very interesting mechanic um makes it very difficult as well very very hard you got

yeah so Minos um I actually demoed this one at Gridcom most recently and it's uh fantastic game i was asked to do it and

I I kind of started to learn it i was like "Wow this is amazing." Um the whole idea of Minos is that uh the Minos was

whole idea of the game is and what I love about it is you're doing loads of different stuff at the same time you're kind of you're debt building playing

different cards you're upgrading them through developments um but you're also doing there's a trading mechanic in

there and everything else but what the best part of the game is is is this kind of a weird dice draft at the start of it

where you've got to work out the different colors do different things these dice the numbers do another
