um a Avid fan of brass I wanted to try other things that Roxy had done so I bought a copy of skyrise um it's it's

nothing like brass no it's really not um it's kind of got like a Bioshock

infinitees kind of feel because you're building up skyscrapers in the sky um

and it's an kind of an auction kind of style game where you're placing buildings that have numbers on them uh

so you place a building with a certain number in a certain neighborhood on the board uh and then the person to your left would then do the same and the

number of building that they Place must be higher than what you placed or they can pass um on a four- player game you

keep going around to the table and if you're basically the last person standing with the highest numbered building then you win that neighborhood

uh uh the game is plays in plays in two half similar to Brass uh you have era one and era two in Era one uh each of

the neighborhoods and each of the kind of the tiles that the board creates uh are scored based on how tall the

buildings are so the tallest building will get the most points uh cuz there's three different sizes the small medium

large and also you get like a Wonder building as well and it's like a special oneoff building that you can pop down and it'll give you like a special

played it wrong I made it far too easy I heard Rob told me in the toilets of all places uh that you guys had managed to

play it wrong uh yes so after round three on the first scenario you are supposed to start spawning uh aliens um

you meant to draw three uh hidden encounter cards you did one and we did

one every round so we're like this this is not too bad there's like three or four aliens around and this is this is

this is fine um it was supposed to be like 10 like 15 aliens per round and it's meant to get nuts real fast um but

yeah it was fine we actually didn't do amazing we did all manage to escape but we all like the exhaustion deck um which

is like basically your lifespan of the game how long it lasts based on how many cards you draw and how many you discard and get rid of um that deck was actually

really quite Low by the time we got to the end anyway so if we did play it normally I think we probably would have

lost um just by burning out of cards and just running short of um of stamina basically so your characters can't do

well I say recently couple of weeks ago I played um I'm going to keep to the theme as well stranger things the board

game um okay it was not an amazing I don't think it was an amazing game it was good it was a bit fun um so everyone

board yes nice um so physically upside down like the bottom half of the board is the upside down world and obviously

and then the top part is the I can't remember name the village I am a big strange Hawkins yep it's the Hawkins

Town um so you can choose between all the characters most most um I say all the characters there a lot isn't there

but the main characters all the kids and uh the mom and the

sheriff um so they all have their own little ongoing abilities um so basically

the game is very simple you have five cards in your hand and in these cards they have a number between one and five

I believe and you spend these points to add to your movement um when you and

when you get to a spot you have all these all these spots have these stack of tokens with numbers that are hidden and you've got to beat the power of the

stack to get the ability of the area you're in basically um so you've got to decide how many cards you going to

numbers you going to play like between one to five and just put them down but the whole timing of the game is there's

a big snack of cards and when you go through it the whole stack three times it's game over and you haven't done your

objective which is find will in the first scenario um so that's the idea so you got to think how many cards you're

spending if if you go for that deck really quick you're going to go for the game really quick um but it's also the game in Balance if you have two players

you're obviously doing more turns but if you have four players you got more characters on the board to go around quicker but obviously you're going to go

through the deck to or four times as fast so that's the balance Mak it's quite clever it's very hard first couple

of games I played it it was very hard we never did it but then once you get used to the event deck so every time you um after had a every time you

had it go you you draw a bad event card basically and then you read it and then once you go for the deck once it speeds

up so then you're drawing two bad event cards so you go through this event deck quite a lot through the whole game so you kind of know what the cards are kind

of like after a while so you and as always he's a bit will um no Seven's ability you can just get sometimes you

can get rid of these event cards you know which ones once you've got the system in place in your brain you kind of know how to beat the game so it's

only done the first season seon which is season one and you flip the board you got season two so season one's you got the one is it what's the the creature in

the the that's Dem Gord you never can kill it and he's hard as hell but he always chases you on the board you got

reminiscent of the um tiny little kind of games where they just fit a lot of game into a small little box um yeah it

was really good fun so if you like like Dungeon Crawlers probably something a little bit lighter what do we have it done in like an hour hour and a half

maybe but that was probably just cuz we were taking our time it was about roughly that time yeah but we did spend a lot of time faffing and then we died

with halfway across the board and then you have to tr all the way back to get them and then start again so no yeah it

was good it for those of you who don't know is is it's kind of um an action point based Dungeon Crawler so you got

so many action points depending on what character you've got I think mine out five and you can either move attack or

explore basically um that's pretty much all you can do there's not a lot that you can actually do action point wise so

they keep it really sort of streamlined in that way and the idea is you um pick up items when you explore you meet

monsters you defeat said monsters and the idea is you've got to collect four of these is it four it was yeah four

seeds four seeds um and the idea is in in that scenario that you've got to then want to

pick up all the seeds drop them to certain locations and then um out spawns

an evil guy I can't remember what he was can you illuminate I can't remember what he was but just some massive like Titan

thing that just wands the M map and just Stomps your face as soon as anywhere near you he he he was you could

understand that that you could potentially beat him but to be honest could oneshot you no problem at all so it's one of them that you really the

idea is to avoid him um so yeah that I thought it was really interesting especially at the end you collect we got

all the seeds together and then they he basically heads towards you in quite a um you know a logical manner so he heads

towards a nearest person and you could trap him if you were clever enough so you could like bait him in going one way

and then someone else nips him behind and like it was I thought it was quite an interesting little end to a game to be honest where it kind of goes from a

kind of a fairly standard Dungeon Crawler where you just just wandering around beating stuff up collecting items and happy days you know um to kind of

like one like almost like a like a uh not a hidden Emy type game but like a

game like nicop phobia if you remember that one where you are running around the forest and the the killer trying to

catch you you know and you're trying to evade them you know um don't know if there's an official tile for those type of games but basically you know

reminiscent of that basically where someone one versus four is it one hidden hidden hidden um

is left a dead similar to that where you got one murderer or something or is that a different franchise I'm thinking of computer gam you're thinking of dead by

but so there's some really interesting strategies in that but like you know it's just a more complicated version of risk with Lord of the Rings thematics

more thematic you know it really there's basically two different win conditions for each side and as you can imagine for

the good guys you can either take a couple Like A reduced amount of the um

of the Sauron or Eisen God's for their fortresses um for a win or you can get

Frodo to Mordor get him to mount dun and get him to put the ring in in into the mountain you know so um so there's there

and obviously from the evil gu point of view you can either basically conquer a certain amount of Middle Earth so

therefore you know kind of win in that way or you can corrupt Frodo to uh well

game um and it's similar to that in the fact that the you can't just idly play
