in there one all the powers from the abilities they all kind of been toned down a little like you a lot of them are

more one-offs rather than a constant thing you got your signal ring your character yeah you've got your

signal ring ability but a lot of them now are just like oneoff effects that happen which I think it's better in some

aspects um you can still mix it with I and um Immortal and that still adds the

permanent abilities and that's fine and that's pretty good um the other thing that they've done is you've now got

spies which is a new little um uh icon on a card or uh some abilities um give

you spies and there lots of different ways of getting spies it's a little C cylinder token

that you put down that will link to either two spaces three spaces one space

and basically what happens is when you go to that space you can either use it if an agent's already there you want to

go there you take the spy off and you can go there infiltrate infiltrate yeah or you go there you can take the spy off

and draw a card okay which is really nice CU you can combo you can put your

spy down and it's a space where you wouldn't necessarily normally go just because the benefits good but you you

need that extra cards to get a spice must flow or you need the extra card just to be able to see what's in your

decks like your deck you can do it it's really nice to set up your next turn set up other things but also other players

can watch it and go oh I'm going to go there now yeah you've not you've they you've not stopped them going there but

they then can't draw that card lots of different aspects to it layer um yeah some of the spaces well a lot of the

spaces have changed um the top High Council space isn't useless anymore um

if you go there again and spend five coins you now get um two spice uh two

sand worms also have a good effect that if you've played a sand worm in you get to double resources on the

remember and they're just colored basically on the top icon on the top corner of each combat card you have this

the board's really open people still go where you want to go right but the board's a lot more open it's a lot

quite nice so fairly recently I managed to play the expansion to revive called Call of the abyss and uh for those that

don't know revive is a game that came out a couple of years ago we actually played it at gridcom 3 I think so year

two years ago two about two years ago and um really it's kind of this uh kind

of futuristic the world's basically been shat on by humans lots of these people

have gone hidden away for generations and generations thousands of years underground to the point where they've

come out everything's kind of frozen but it's the world starting to thw and you kind of pop up and start exploring and

uh yeah doing all sorts of cool Little Euro combo shanans basically is all I'm

going to say it has the maddest player board one of the maddest player boards that you've ever seen it's like this weird spiral tracks that kind of go

around each other and uh the more you explore and and put um kind of your

wooden structures down the more you progress on the one of the three tracks that are there which then unlocks

basically little modules that you can slot into your board that have little like powers that you can um do free

actions on by spending like these surges these electric electricity so you remember you have to go up one to get

the surges and then kind of powers whatever abilities you want to do it's the combo game and I played the base

game a couple of times I didn't say bounced hard off it but I played it and

I enjoyed it but it was we stumbled across the the one of a broken well a

broken combo where basically there was one of the Cities you have to remind me it's like two years on the edges of the

with the two of them and I think I just absolutely no one was even Clos to my score at the end you're 150 away was

of them things played it again same thing happened but I think for a different faction mainly to do with

drawing cards it was just like the the city on the edge of the the corner the faction had a really great card draw

ability and their secret goal had cards so it's like cards cards cards and again

that was on a gameing r stream with Paul who is's playing and he he didn't really have to do anything it was like just

chat about um some of the balance and one of the things they've done as official recommendation is now the

different alien head artifacts on there and it's multipliers if you go for this thing it'll multiply uh the more of

those alien heads that you collect um the trouble is in the base is that you don't you know like Dave's going for

purple I know he's going for purple CU I keep seeing he goes for purple I don't know why he's going for purple I don't I can't deduce it really difficult so one

of the things they've done is like you now draw one shared goal C which it's just makes sense like we can now know

now like officialized in the expansion but the expansion adds four new kind of

races and faction in I played two of them one in a learning game which was actually based off like the last of us

uh mushroom dudes oh yeah and they have a nice kind of leech um ability that can

copy other people's effects and Civ abilities and stuff um but the one I actually played on the stream was I

think called the Kos or chyos they were like cat people with forearms and they had a um circadian token which flipped

from night and day every time that you rested and that would then unlock different abilities you F and when you

rest you might actually want to rest early sometimes get the other ability forces you to to maybe yeah rest and

stuff so they were really good fun to play and like the four new factions look really like cool like really different

really uh pushing in a different direction and it comes with a new track um that kind of sits to the left of the

the VP track I forget the name of it um but you can instead of earning VPS you

can also earn these other um like pre SI points or or something and if you get so

far down that track you then can unlock what's called these skios cards and they're like look like a jellyfish on

them and you essentially trash one of your um cards you get one of these and

they're like uber powerful cards um and they just absolute Bonkers nonsense on

there so they're always good feeling when you get one of them you're like oh yeah and I think you can probably get like two or three in the game okay so

you know if you push that track so you got that going on you got these things called Journeys in which you um you can

claim a journey uh and you you essentially just put uh that that kind

of card near your Tableau and that will just kind of say look if you want to get two of these things or four of these

things or six of these things you'll get uh a boon so you kind of hold out on these things and then trigger them and

score them when you want so that that's quite good again it's just another little layer in there so the expansion

for me didn't add loads and loads of bits you got new tiles I think you added lakes in there so it didn't really like

they were very close um and also what was nice is that actually in the training game or the learning game we

reward as well um yeah so it's really good contentious that way um in your the

the highest wins basically the highest power but um you can spend an influence the defender can spend an influence to roll as many as times as he likes to

um all about when you start going to the buying phase when you want to buy your your shops in your on your M so you only have one shop on a mat at a time and

they have an ability on it so another work spot for people to go it's a bit like if you someone goes on your spot they give you you earn a gold sort of

something um but there's these little symbols at the top which is the wagon or the whale symbol or the I forgot the

last one again the mining symbol so each card can sometimes have one of each icons on it two of the same one Depend

and at the end game whoever wins the pokker part on the Town Hall you can

move up the town hall track to make that token the highest point at the end of the game but um it's quite an
